The film, starring a brilliant performance by Elisabeth Moss, was made on a shoestring budget of just $7 million, but grossed nearly $144 million worldwide. This picture became the most popular part of the so-called “Universal Monster Universe”, and after the failures of “The Mummy” and “Dracula”, it gave the studio hope to revive its franchise.
Elisabeth Moss has confirmed that the studio is planning to return to The Invisible Man. She said that work on the sequel is ongoing and is already at an advanced stage.
Moss expressed her joy at this, noting that they are closer to resolving this issue than ever before and that they are eager to continue the story. The actress also confirmed that the director of the first part, Leigh Whannell, was involved in working on the sequel.
Elisabeth Moss also revealed whether she will be involved in the next Monsterverse project, Werewolf, which is currently filming in New Zealand and directed by Leigh Whannell.
The actress replied that she has not yet received an offer to star in this film, but the possibility of combining both films in one universe is still being discussed. Moss emphasized that this is Universal’s idea for the future, and if Werewolf is successful, it could bring new life to the entire monster universe.
The main roles in the new film “Werewolf” are played by Christopher Abbott, known for his roles in “Catch-22” and “Poor Things”, as well as Julia Garner, best known for the TV series “Ozark”. The premiere is scheduled for January 17, 2025.
