Contrary to previous speculation that Hayden Christensen was involved with the film, Keanu Reeves joined the franchise based on the Sega games. The John Wick star played the role of Shadow, the main antagonist of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The screen debut of Shadow, one of the blue hedgehog’s biggest adversaries among his gaming brethren, has been talked about for many months, and there have also been rumors that Hayden Christensen, star of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, will be invited to play the role.
Other candidates for the role were reportedly Nicolas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Paul, Adam Driver and Jason Griffith, an actor known from the original game series.

The videos collected in the presentation were supposed to confirm that Shadow, with the voice of Keanu Reeves, will make his debut in the story thanks to the experiments of Professor Robotnik (Jim Carrey).
