Filming has begun for season 5 of the series “You”

More than a year after the final episodes of You aired on Netflix, the streaming platform has finally confirmed that it is working on a fifth season.

The first photo from the set showed that series star Penn Badgley had already joined the cast.

Although the psychological thriller’s renewal for a fifth and final season was announced in March 2023, it took a full year to produce new episodes.

During this time, significant changes took place behind the scenes. The showrunner position, previously held by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti, has now been filled by executive producers Michael Foley and Justin V. Law. This change came about due to Gamble’s desire to focus on other projects.

Netflix has announced that season 5 will be the last and will be released later this year. Please note that, like season four, season five will be split into two parts.

The Netflix series follows the character of Joe Goldberg, a violent psychopath who is obsessed with his victims and will do anything to live with them, be it stalking, kidnapping or murder.

Much of the fourth season took place in London, where the main character took a job as a professor. The series is a loose adaptation of the best-selling book series by Caroline Kepnes.

In addition to Badgley, the cast for season five also included Charlotte Ritchie (as Kate) and Madeleine Brewer, known in particular from The Handmaid’s Tale (as a character named Bronte).
